I started out working on a full flat-lay style photo for this post but something just wasn't working out right. The skincare bits + makeup bits just didn't work together the way I wanted and I got frustrated. I quit snapping photos and decided to get ready for the day. I began playing around with my products and thought that a "first impressions" post would be a bit more fun. This post is only featuring the makeup bits I bought - I did grab a few skincare items that I decided I would feature later on after testing them out a bit more.
The look I created is based off of a photo I saw recently of Kourtney Kardashian. She had an amazing bronzy look where her bottom lash line had a heavy layer of warm, orange toned eyeshadow defining it and a gorgeous glossy lip. I decided to play around with a look that was similar but with a bit more of a pop. The three products I'm testing out for this look are the Anastasia Beverly Hills Matte Stick Foundation, the Make Up For Ever Pro Light Fusion Highlighter in 002, and the Marc Jacobs Enamored Lip Gloss in 'Sugar Sugar'. I've included a little summary of each product + a full list of everything I used on my face below!
Anastasia Beverly Hills Matte Stick Foundation : The foundation gets a huge thumbs up from me! It applies with plenty of pigment, covers nicely, blends easily, and has a great finish. It's matte but still very skin-like. I actually can't believe I'm loving a matte foundation so much, but as my skin has changed I've found satin and matte foundations to suit me nicely. It wore well throughout the day and by the time I was getting ready for bed I was still super impressed with how my makeup looked. Ps: It retails for $25 - a steal compared to other high end stick foundations on the market!
Make Up For Ever Pro Light Fusion Highlighter 002 : Thiiiiis highlighter! Okay, I know I swore I didn't need any more highlighters after I bought all the ABH ones...but this one is totally different. While the ABH ones are more metallic and contain some glitter this one is way more of a glossy finish. Definitely more of a "lit from within" option and it's beautiful. In these photos I have it on alone, but I'm excited to layer it as well. It works nicely applied dry or for more of a punch it works well with a bit of Fix+.
Marc Jacobs Enamored Lip Gloss 'Sugar Sugar' : I have been searching for this for probably close to six months now and it's literally always out of stock. (For good reason.) It's a gorgeous pink toned nude with champagne gold shimmer running through it. I own one other Marc Jacobs lip gloss and it's in my list of top three glosses along with Buxom and Hourglass. They are pigmented, super glossy, never sticky, and have a slight minty fragrance.
