The No-Spend January + A Little Beauty Haul

January was a month of change and resetting life in general for me. Towards the end of December I hit a point where I was super frustrated with myself. I had gotten sucked into some bad spending habits, taken a few amazing trips, and then of course Christmas shopping always adds up. I knew that I needed to hit the reset button on my spending and give my credit card a rest. At the end of the month I sat down, set some goals for 2016, and came up with a plan. After exchanging a few Christmas presents I set out to do a month of no spending (aside from food & household supplies) with the idea that I would reward myself at the end of the month with a few carefully selected purchases that were within my budget.

What I learned from this exercise is that while impulse shopping is a fun spur of the moment high, shopping is even more rewarding and fun after waiting and putting together a list. When Sarah (who embarked on this challenge with me) and I finally treated to ourselves to a girls night of shopping + ice cream, we were far more excited than usual and left with zero shoppers remorse. The no-spend challenge went so well that I plan to keep doing the same pattern for the rest of the year - no spending during the month and selecting specific items to splurge on at the end. 2016 goal - thoughtful spending + lots of saving.

Now onto the fun part of this post - reviewing my beauty haul! I had a few gift cards to use up and I took full advantage and couldn't be happier with my choices.

Diorskin Nude BB Creme : I knew I wanted to get a base as part of my end of month treat. I'm getting dangerously close to the end of my IT Cosmetics CC Cream and wanted to branch out to something different. After finding Almu's blog (Feel Bella) and seeing all of her love of Dior, I knew there was no turning back and I was about to become totally obsessed with the brand. This BB Cream is dewy (and hydrating), evens out my skin tone, and gives a flawless smooth finish. It also has SPF 10 and a really lovely scent. So far, it's solid 10. I haven't had it for long though, so I'll have to report back at the end of the month.

Charlotte Tilbury Eyes To Mesmerize 'Marie Antoinette' : After seeing Sarah wear Bette for the past few months, I knew I needed to add one to my collection. I chose Marie Antoinette which is a soft golden toned mink shade. They blend out beautifully, are super long lasting, and work well on their own or as a base for other shadows to be layered on top.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz "Medium Brown' : This is an old favorite and when I ran out a few months back I decided to use up a few other products before re-buying. I can officially say that this is my favorite brow product on the market and I'm excited to have it back. The nib on the Brow Wiz is so precise and the spoolie is one of my favorites.

Sephora Pro Brush #55 : My last splurge purchase was a new foundation brush. For a while now I've wanted to revamp my brushes and wanted to start with one for foundation. This buffing brush is a longer haired brush that gives a super flawless finish. If you like denser brushes, this one isn't for you.

Do you own any of these products? Are you a fan of Dior makeup? I'm totally obsessed now and really want to add a few more pieces to my collection next month, so let me know your favorites!
