It's not often I talk about the artists and industry pros that inspire me, but without a doubt my top inspiration is Lou Teasdale. She's best known for keeping the boys of One Direction perfectly styled; but I also love her cool-girl style, lived-in London vibe makeup, and of course her perfectly beachy waves and braids. If I could pick one look to effortlessly pull off, it would definitely be her signature lavender/silver hair.
When a few new Redken products landed on my doorstep I knew that they would be perfect for creating looks inspired by Lou. (Especially now that her hair has been cut in a similar style to mine!)
First up, the Fashion Waves Texturizing Salt Spray...this one is definitely my favorite texturizing salt spray at the moment. It gives good grip without being too "crunchy" and can be applied to damp hair or dry hair for extra volume. The finish is matte and you can top up the product throughout the day or layer it with other products. My favorite way to recreate Lou's signature wavy locks is to start with Bumble & Bumble Surf Shampoo (a known Lou favorite), blow dry my hair to get a bit of volume to start with, and then run my straightener in an "s" curve to create piecey waves. Once the waves are set I run my fingers through them to loosen them up, and then spray with the Fashion Waves to make texture.
Along with effortless waves, Lou is also known for her braids - particularly her Heidi style ones. The Braid Aid is the perfect product to achieve the lived, tousled braids that are on trend at the moment. The product starts out as a slippery balm, but after being worked into damp hair gives off the grip of a powder. It helps create definition and grip while braiding. Be sure to keep the product away from the roots though! Right now my hair isn't long enough to sport Heidi braids (sadly), but I've been loving creating chunky dutch braids and small textured braids with the Braid Aid.
Now let me know, who do you turn to for beauty inspiration?
