MAC Lip Liner Favorites

The other weekend when Ashlyn was over she asked me what MAC lip liners I would recommend she snag during her next beauty haul. I excitedly grabbed my favorites off my bathroom sink and began swatching. Since the collection is filled with mostly nudes, I jokingly referenced it as the "Kylie Jenner starter kit".

'Soar' : A mid-tone pinkish brown shade (that is impossible to get ahold of)! After Kylie Jenner named this one of her top lip colors everyone and their mother ran out to snag it - and for good reason. It's a perfect lip enhancer, a deep mauve/nude that looks gorgeous on it's own or paired with lighter lipsticks. MAC's Creme-Cup is a great one to pair it with.

'Boldly Bare' : A dusty brown shade that is the perfect light nude lip liner. This is my go-to for pairing with pretty much any neutral lip color since it's a great "your lips, but better shade". It's a warm toned neutral so it pairs well with colors like Hue.

'Whirl' : Another Kylie favorite and somewhat of a sister to Soar. Soar is deeper and makes more of an impact whereas Whirl is slightly lighter and a bit of a dustier rose shade. If you can't get ahold of Soar this is a great alternative.

'Stripdown' : I discovered this color from Kylie's snapchat of all places. As I watched the quick snap of her having this applied by her makeup artist I knew it needed to be the latest color in my collection. It is a true beige-y brown shade and totally gorgeous. I love pairing this one with my Marc Jacob's Enamored Gloss in "Pretty Thing".

'Vino' : Super intense and my go-to for most of the Fall when I love sporting dark, vampy lips. This is totally necessary for creating perfect deep berry toned lips.

'Cherry' : Vivid red and blue-toned (perfect for making your teeth look nice and white). This is my go-to liner for creating perfect and long lasting glamorous red lips.

What are your favorite liners? Let me know in the comments below - I'm always looking to add to my collection!

  3. I still need Whirl! But it's sold out ALL the time, it's crazy!! Maybe I'll just look for Soar instead then.

  4. I love Whirl and Soar and tend to reach for one or the other most days. I really need to add Cherry to my collection though, as Whirl and Soar are the only lip liners from MAC I own!

  5. I also like Spice and Buerre. They're both neutral shades, Spice is a rosy brown lipliner and Buerre is part of the MAC cremestick liner line so it's creamier than the regular lip liners. It's also a Kylie shade, that darker mauve with a hint of purple.

  10. I had that problem with Soar, I tried for months to get ahold of it and finally snagged it the other week! Once Kylie names a favorite they are impossible to find!

I hardly have any lip liners --- your collection is gorgeous! Soar looks beautiful, but I guess I'll have to wait til the hype dies down to check it out :)

  17. I am still loving the Rimmel Eastend Snob! I wear it under almost any color because I think its a really great "filler" for my natural lip color, and any of my bright NARS colors hold really well with this product! I love the look of Cherry and Soar!

  18. I got Boldly Bare a couple months back as my very first lip liner and I love it! I can also totally understand why lip liners are necessary now. Added the rest of these to my shopping list. Will have to check them out! xx

  19. I've loving MAC's Beurre and Beet lip liners right now. Beurre has a much creamier formula which I think is a little easier to wear on the lips, and Beet is a perfect bright lip to wear for warmer weather! I definitely want to try out Boldy Bare, sounds lovely!

  22. East End Snob is a great one! It is such a good dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk!!

  23. Lip liners become such an addiction - it's like you decide to get one to go with a lip color and then you all of a sudden need them all!!

  24. Buerre was one that someone else suggested - definitely going to have to hunt that one down next! Also just looked up Beet and it's gorgeous too!

  25. They are very, very similar however Whirl is definitely lighter. I tend to wear Soar on it's own a lot and mainly pair Whirl with other lipsticks. If you are a total lip liner junkie then both are great to have, but otherwise they are incredibly similar!

  26. The Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Lip Pencils are amazing and they even come with a lip brush on the other end (genius!), and the Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Lip Liner in Orchid is the most amazing colour. Enjoy! xx

  27. It's a fantastic neutral! Definitely a great one to snag to wear with lots :)
