A while back I started seeing these pretty little bowls pop up all over my Instagram and started wondering what exactly they were. After a bit of digging I discovered the trend known as the Acai Bowl.
Acai berries are considered by many to be a "super food" and very healthy. Filled with antioxidants these berries are said to help increase energy and make one feel better from the inside out if consumed regularly. Its just plain delicious as well. Since the mixture itself is all fruit I like to top mine with Almond slices, a small amount of Granola, and some Coconut Shavings.
Frozen Acai (I buy mine at Whole Foods & use 1 packet per bowl)
1 whole frozen Banana cut into slices
Toppings of choice
In a blender add a small amount of Almond Milk (depending on the consistency you'd like your base to be add more or less). I usually use a little less than 1/4 of a cup. Next add your bananas and Acai (you can also use frozen berries if you don't like bananas). Blend until a creamy consistency is achieved - almost like the texture of frozen yogurt. Pour into a bowl and top with nuts, fruit, or anything else you may want.
