This year I declared New Year's day a "do-nothing" day. I wanted to start the new year off super relaxed with no major expectations for accomplishing anything that first day. Since I spent the night before getting all done up, celebrating, and staying out late I decided to go all out with a post-big night out routine. It helped me to feel better and feel like I had a fresh start for 2015.
My first step was to use my Clarins Instant Eye Makeup Remover to get off any last bits of mascara/liner/sparkle from the night before. After eye makeup remover I used a gentle cleanser to remove any excess grime from the night before - I really like the Beautycounter cleanser. Then I ran a super hot bath using one of my favorite Lush Bath Bombs (big thanks to my brother's girlfriend Madison for supplying me with one). When I don't have any Lush Bath Bombs I love using the Bath & Body Works Lavender Bubble Bath. It gives loads of big bubbles and the lavender scent is so soothing. After a long bath I usually run the shower to wash my hair (I don't like washing my hair in the bath) and I used Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree Shampoo. This one has a hint of mint in it and feels so fresh and revitalizing on my scalp.
The last step is to moisturize like crazy. After a long night out my skin is super dehydrated and definitely needs it. First up is serum in the form of (Ren makes my favorite), followed by Ren moisturizer. For my lips and hands I stick to my coveted Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. Lastly, is full body moisturizing and for that I stay within the Elizabeth Arden range as well. Her Intensive Moisture Body Treatment is effective without being greasy.
Of course during the whole process candles are an absolute must. Some of my favorites are by Diptyque, Jo Malone, and the Brooklyn Candle Studio.
What is your favorite way to relax and revamp yourself after a big night of celebrating? Do you indulge in some extra skincare or do you stick to your regular routine?
