Hello 2015

Happy New Year and Happy 2015 everyone! I hope all of you had a safe and wonderful start to the new year. I'm writing this post today because I declared yesterday an official "do-nothing" day; something I haven't done in ages.

I took an amazing bath with one of my favorite Lush bath bombs. Did a bit of extra pampering - I pulled out all the good skincare bits (a post is in the works on all of that stuff!) and decided to start the year with a fresh red manicure. After all of that I cozied right back into bed and settled in with my laptop. I finally upgraded my TV this Christmas and purchased Chromecast - hello best thirty dollars I've ever spent! I also decided to sign up for Netflix for the first time. After that I only left my bed to put together dinner. It was by far the most fantastic and best way to start the new year. Today though, it's time to throw back a couple cups of coffee, get my planners sorted, finally answer emails, and do a bit cleaning. Along with all of that I've been thinking about goals for 2015 and I decided I'd share a few of them with you all.

Time - I used to always be on time (or better yet early). Lately I'm constantly fifteen minutes late, flying out the door, makeup half done, and apologizing along the way. I've come to realize just how much stress it causes. My goal is to slowly start waking up earlier, getting less distracted by my laptop and other things, and getting myself where I need to be.

Friends - I often get so caught up in using my spare time trying to get blog photos taken, write emails, or even just organize my house that I often skip out on friend's invitations to do something. My new goal in 2015 is to say yes more, and spend time with friends I don't get to see as much.

Personal - I want to do small things that help make myself feel better. I want to set aside time in the evening to cook proper meals. My brother got me a crock pot for Christmas (ugh I am such an old lady - my almost 18 year old brother is buying me crock pots as presents) and I'm already loving using it and it's making a big difference. I want to get back into making my bed every morning, something I used to do every single day for years. Lastly, spend less. I have to ask myself: why I need it, do I have something similar, and have I gone over my monthly budget already.

Positivity - I find that is so easy to get lost in the negative and to lose patience. My biggest goal for this year is to find ways to reality check myself during those moments. There are two things I'm working to do. The first is to keep a notebook, jotting down positive thoughts from the day. This is an idea from Amelia and I love it. I'm currently on the hunt for a pretty notebook - if you know of any let me know in the comments below! The second thing is one Ashlyn and I are doing together. We tried it the other night - ending the day texting each other two positive things that happened during the day.

What are some of your goals for this year? I'd love to hear in the comments below!

  1. I love these goals! I definitely am also spending less, spending more time meeting new people, and focusing on health and wellness. Looking forward to a great 2015!

    1. We can totally be "spend less" buddies! We can ask each other the questions "why do you need it" etc lol!

  2. These are good ones. I agree with spending less and definitely making more time to just enjoy life. Best of luck this year and hope to see you again real soon.

  3. Faith, I literally laughed out loud reading this because I have promised to buy myself a Crock Pot at Target this weekend so that I can start making myself meals and save money! My stepmom gave me the idea over Christmas; she said it is good for a beginner. And I am totally with you on the time thing - so many mornings I am rushing to get to work and feeling irritable as a result; I want to focus on getting up early and taking more time to get ready and appreciate the day.

Have a great start to 2015, girl! :)
