The New Year's Eve Makeup Edit

Happy last week of 2014 readers! I hope all of you had wonderful holidays and got lots of rest and relaxation over the past few days. With the last big holiday of the year right around the corner I thought I would share a bit of makeup inspiration in the form of what I'll be wearing on the big night.

Opposite of my Christmas look I've decided to go much heavier and smokier on the eyes with full, nude lips. My Bobbi Brown palette is sadly no longer available (but I've rounded up a few similar favorites below)! This a gorgeous cool toned look that packs a lot of punch in the shimmer department - it is New Year's Eve after all. My trusty Tom Ford liner pen will be giving the look a nice defined lash line and as you can probably tell from my latest photos I am absolutely adoring this Maybelline mascara recommended by the lovely Sarah. It creates the fullest, thickest, and longest lashes.

What type of makeup will you be wearing on the big night? Are you going for a bolder eye or a bolder lip this year? Let me know in the comments below!

  3. Faith, I'm sure your makeup will look gorgeous on New Year's Eve, as always! I am not sure what my plans will be yet - if I go out, it will be to a house party, so I might not really lay on the makeup. Whenever I wear a ton of makeup and look at the photos later, I feel like I look like too "done". However, when I wear my usual amount, I look a little too pale in photos. Any tips for that?

    1. Hi Christina! Thanks for your sweet comment :)
I would definitely go with a foundation that does not have SPF (that way you won't have flash back in photos) and I always like to think less is more with your base. If you do a light layer of foundation and then go in with concealer where needed and add a great highlighter you won't look as done up - much more natural! What bronzer are you using? The right bronzer can help tons as well!

For eyes I like to line the inner portion of my upper lashes with a pencil liner. It feels super weird but will make your lashes look so much thicker and fuller. This can help add a bit to your makeup as well without going super dramatic on the eyes!
