Happy Weekend | Flower Friday

Happy Friday everyone! I figured this farmer's market shot with its bright blooms was more than appropriate as a "last hurrah of Summer" photo. Labor Day weekend marks the end of summer and I cannot believe that September is next week. While I'm definitely ready for sweaters and boots, I am sad to see summer going. This summer in DC has been so amazing, temperatures have been pretty moderate this year and so many days have lacked the gross humidity we often get in July and August. It was definitely a much different summer than last year.

This weekend I'll be helping out with a friend's wedding, scooping up some items from the farmer's market, and per usual shooting lots of blog posts. I'm hoping that my long weekend will be a productive one. Since I usually take advantage of three day weekends to travel up to New York it's been a while since I've had some extra time off at home.

What will you be doing this weekend?

OOTD : J'Adore Ensambl

Zara heels [This Season's]

Raise your hand if like me, you never, ever check the weather when getting ready in the morning? I know it's like the most ridiculous thing, but for some reason I have the worst habit of never switching on the news or double checking my phone before heading out the door. When Dalia, the creator of Ensambl reached out to me to share her app, my morning routine totally changed. Ensambl was born during a massive snow storm that left Dalia unprepared for what to wear. After spending hours searching online for inspiration she realized that there needed to be a better way to browse and save looks. The app uses your location to let you know the weather and provide you with outfit inspiration via your favorite bloggers. The best part, the outfit shots it shares with you cater to your location and weather. With a simple click you can favorite the outfits you love or "x" out the ones you don't. The favorites go into a folder where you can pull them up again for inspiration. If you tap the image you are taken to the blogger's site directly. (It's also a fantastic tool to learn about new bloggers and their sites.)

Last Sunday was some of the most perfect pre-fall weather and I totally loved getting the chance to mix in some of my newer fall pieces. I spent the morning swiping through Ensambl and after seeing a few outfit shots with fun graphic tee's I settled on the look above. My love for boyfriend jeans is never ending, so when Loft had their big sale the other week I couldn't resist scooping up a second pair. My t-shirt is from Old Navy's new launch (shout-out to Jordan for introducing me to them!) and it couldn't be comfier. I bought mine super larger so that I could wear it slouchy, totally perfect for weekends.

Be sure to head over to Dalia's blog today and check out the interview I did with her. You can learn a little bit about me and my love for fashion over there! Also be sure to check out Ensambl in the app store, it's free and so much fun to use!

Home Office Inspiration

When Chairish [a very cool company who features exclusively curated pieces of furniture; and allows design lovers to buy and sell items] approached me about collaborating on a post together I knew exactly which chair I was going to use. In typical Faith fashion I picked the sleek black chair. Upon seeing their Domitalia Cameo chair, I knew immediately what I wanted my post to be about - home office inspiration. I love the mix of the vintage cameo shape and curved details with modern, textural pieces. Since most of my design preferences are very neutral I stuck with my main color palette but added in a fun accent of chartreuse green. I love the idea of this funky color popping up in accessories, office supplies, a fun throw blanket, etc.

*While I worked with Chairish on this post I have not been compensated. All opinions and views are my own.

Tuesday Morning Chat

Every now and then I have one of those weekends (or weeks) where I have so much I want to get done for the blog or around my house, but I just seem to constantly run out of time or ideas. This past weekend was one of those. If I wasn't having a "creative block" on how to photograph, the lighting just wasn't on my side. I sat chatting with Ashlyn for a while on Sunday and she reminded me to focus on the positive and leave the negative behind. She also reminded me that taking a little longer to work on something and make it perfect is way better than pushing through a bunch of things at once only to be disappointed with how they turn out.

Anyways, enough of that little rambling thought. I decided that once a month it might be nice to share with you a little list of things I've been loving, seeing, or doing. See below for links and thoughts :)

Craving : The new products from the Fall 2014 Chanel launch. How amazing is the vampy lipstick and dark blue polish?!

Cooking :  Every so often I go through major smoothie phases. While I know smoothies aren't  exactly cooking, it's definitely a great way to start my day. My favorite combo at the moment is vanilla yogurt + a mixture of berries. Not only is a pretty color, it's a nice sweet start to my morning.

Reading : I'm a big fan of mystery books. My love for the Stephanie Plum series is never ending, and since I've already read the new one I've found another series to hold me over until the next Plum book. Jennie Bentley's DIY Series combines house flipping along with mysteries (my kinda combination). Along with books I'm also digging into all the September Issues.

Listening to : I hadn't really given Ariana Grande's music a good listen to until the other week and I was so surprised at how much I enjoyed her powerful voice. So right now I'm definitely on an Ariana Grande kick. As for music while I'm working, I always turn to the Alexi Murdoch or Birdy Pandora station. They are both so calming and easy to listen to.

Watching : I pretty much almost never turn on the TV and instead spend my free time catching up on all my favorite YouTubers. Right now I'm really loving Anna from Vivianna Does Makeup's channel.

Just Landed | The Drugstore Beauty Base

So when I say "just landed" I mean these seriously just landed into my makeup bins - like two days ago. Since I have only had about a day or so to use these bad boys I thought it might be nice to do a "first impressions" post. This little drugstore haul came about during Saturday's grossly wet weather, when instead of shooting blog posts Ashlyn and I decided to run errands. [By errands I mean go to Ulta, CVS, and Target to scout beauty products and find some of the September Issues.] Some of these items were on my list of things to grab and others are now in my makeup bag because Ashlyn is a bad influence ;) just kidding, love you Ashlyn.

Milani Baked Bronzer Glow 04 : I've been meaning to snag Milani products for a while now and their baked bronzers and blushes are almost always out of stock so when we stumbled upon them I knew they were coming home with me. This stuff is seriously pigmented. The other day when I loaded up my brush with bronzer I was totally taken aback with how much color was on it. A little definitely goes a long way. I don't have any "baked" powders so this was a nice one to add to my collection.

Milani Baked Blush, Luminoso 05 : So far I'm very pleased with this one (and Milani products in general). The color is unlike most of my other blushes - which are pretty dramatic pinks and corals - so it is nice to have a little more of a neutral shade in my bag. Like the bronzer it has a whole lotta pigment.

L'Oreal Visible Lift Blur Concealer : This one. Oh my gosh everyone needs to go out and buy this stuff immediately. Ashlyn has been talking about this stuff for a few weeks now and I just gave into buying it after seeing THIS post she did and having her physically place it in my hands on Saturday. I kept thinking...I don't need another concealer. Yes, I absolutely needed this concealer. "Airbrush finish" is the only way I know how to describe this. Ashlyn can vouch for me, I stared at my face post-application for a solid twenty minutes. It's that good. The plus side, it only gets better the longer it absorbs into your skin.

L'Oreal Revitalift Miracle Blur : This is one I'm a little iffy about. I've been meaning to get my hands on it for a bit now and thought in combination with the concealer this would be a pretty deadly combo. A little goes a long way with the application of this stuff and I'm thinking I applied a little too much on my first try. The texture is super nice and makes my skin feel incredibly smooth. However, I felt as though my makeup slipped all around when I was applying it. I was seriously afraid that it was going to slide all off in a matter of a few minutes. Once I set my foundation and concealer, and let things sit for a few minutes the feeling did go away. I think this one is going to take a little practice. I'll be reporting back.

Have you snagged any must have items lately or seen any good new releases?

Happy Weekend | Flower Friday

Happy Friday readers! This week has been filled with lots of work and a couple late nights so I'm definitely ready for 5pm to roll around. My plans for this weekend are pretty low key and I'm pretty happy about that.

What are your weekend plans?

Current Beauty Favorites | High-end Edition

Between the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and a few gift cards I needed to use up, I didn't feel too guilty these past few weeks splurging a bit on some high-end products I've been dying to get my hands on for a while. Some are repeat offenders that I can't live without and others are new to my makeup bag but most definitely coveted.

1] NARS Domination Cheek Palette : This was one of those saw it, could't stop thinking about it, gotta have it products that I grabbed during the Nordstrom sale. Laguna is an all time favorite of mine and I have actually never worn Orgasm before (shock of all horrors), so this palette made perfect sense. The light and bright pink color (Mistinguette) is absolutely gorgeous as well and I have used it just as much, if not more than Orgasm. While the Nordstrom sale is over, you can still snag this one over on the NARS site itself. It is limited edition, so hurry!

2] NARS Sheer Glow Foundation : This has been on my "beauty products to buy" list for ages. It seemed that every time I stepped foot into a makeup store I was convinced to buy another foundation even though I had come in wanting the NARS Sheer Glow. When my Esteé Lauder Double Wear Light began to get low I knew exactly what foundation I wanted to try next. The color match is flawless and the application is beautiful. (Even though NARS recommends using your hands to apply, I find that I prefer using a buffing brush.) While the title says "Sheer Glow" the formula itself gives the perfect amount of coverage and isn't too dewy or too matte. It's that right in-between formula I have found myself reaching for nine times out of ten.

3] YSL Touche Éclat Highlighter Pen : Need I say much about this one? A cult classic, I learned at the YSL counter this product is sold every ten seconds around the world. Yep, that's right...every ten seconds. I use this most days under my eyes, in the corners of my eyes, my brow bone, and my cupids bow. It does a fantastic job of illuminating within and not making you look "shimmery" like some highlighting products can do.

4] YSL Glossy Stain #9 : This is another product I've been lusting over for a while; and yes it is the closest I have ever come to feeling like Cara Delevingne via a YSL add. I could go on for ages about this lip stain. It is literally everything I could ever ask for in a bold lip. The applicator of the wand is amazing and applies bright colors like a dream, the formula is beautiful, the color is rich, and it has the most incredible staying power. I need this in every color they make.

5] Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief : A definite favorite, I've been using this product for a few months now and I couldn't have finished my jar at a more perfect time. Nordstrom featured this oversized jar and travel tube (not pictured) as an incredible deal during their sale. I couldn't have planned the timing to repurchase it better if I tried. I use this product at night and in the morning. The formula is gel-like and never sticky making it easy to crawl into bed at night or put on my makeup right after applying. This product won't be leaving my makeup collection for a long, long time.

What are some of your cult beauty favorites? What high-end products do you love and/or lust over?

Currently Loving | H&M Fall Line

H&M Bag | Burgundy in stores | Black Online

So something very dangerous happened...a brand spanking new H&M just opened it's doors right near my office. Naturally I had to wander in there just to see how the store looked; and I was blown away. This H&M is big, organized, and filled with fall items. The key for me was how organized it is. Usually I go into H&M and start feeling claustrophobic and totally unable to find anything. Not the case with this one, I found too much. The other beauty of this location is that on the weekends this area of DC is pretty calm and quiet, leaving the H&M uncrowded and easy to shop through.

These two items are by far my favorites I snagged there recently in anticipation for fall. I've been dying for a boot just like these and when I walked in, and they were sitting on the front stand I knew they had to come home with me. Plus their price point was just too good to pass up. This bag is huge, perfect for work, and looks so much more expensive than it actually was. I just couldn't pass up the gorgeous burgundy color. I've been craving burgundy everything lately.

Have any of you been shopping for fall lately? What items are on your must-have list for the upcoming fall season?

OOTD : The Perfect Pre-Fall Dress

Gold rings, H&M
Bag, Zara [SIMILAR]

It's official, I've got the itch for fall. Between the September Issues beginning to hit stands and all the fall collections filling the shelves, I'm totally in the mood to slip on a few sweaters and boots. Since August in DC doesn't exactly lend itself to sweaters and boots, I've taken to pairing some new fall pieces with summery items like these nude heels. I fell in love with this H&M dress and deemed it the perfect transitional piece. Wear now with nude heels, wear later with some tights and ankle booties. I also love how beautifully it pairs with my gold jewelry, especially this Lisi Lerch cuff

Are any of you ready for fall? What pieces have you been wearing to transition into this next season?

Current Beauty Favorites | Drugstore Edition

I am so excited to share this post with all of you! While I love beautifully packaged, high-end beauty goodies; there is also nothing I love more than finding drugstore options that are just as luxurious. The items in today's post cause most to do a double take and many often protest that they came from a drugstore. These items aren't dupes per say, they are just really great products that have been consistently in my bag recently.

1] Maybelline "The Nudes" Eyeshadow Palette : This is a new release but it has already shot straight to the top of my makeup bag favorites. For only about ten dollars this palette does it all. My favorite combo definitely comes from the middle four. I'm really loving bronzy eyes at the moment. The reason the palette is so fantastic is because it's colors range from warm to cool with all the basics you need for an everyday eye as well as a nighttime look. The back of the palette is super handy as well. It shows charts highlighting the different combinations and ways to wear the shadows. For someone just starting out with eyeshadow who doesn't want to spend a ton, this palette is definitely for you.

2] L'Oreal Paris Voluminous False Fiber Lash Mascara : In general I am a big fan of L'Oreal Paris mascaras. I feel that their formula and wands really do just as a nice a job as higher end brands. I scooped this new mascara up for two reason; the fiber lash formula and for the wand. None of my other wands are as narrow and comb-like so I wanted to give this one a go. The claims on the packaging definitely don't disappoint. I have used this mascara every day since purchasing it. I love the way it coats lashes without getting super clumpy or flakey and the wand is great for getting into the corners of your eyes. I also love this wand for my bottom lashes. Since it is a smaller wand, it's great for coating those little guys.

3] Maybelline Line Stiletto Liquid Eyeliner : This liner. I could write a novel about this liner. I have actually used this one for years. I have also turned all of my friends onto this liner as well. While I often play around and test other liquid liners; I always come back to this guy. Nothing beats this liner. I've had makeup artist at high end counters ask me what liner I'm wearing and they are constantly amazed by my response. The felt tip doesn't drag or pull, it creates an even and precise line, and this stuff stays all day but isn't a pain to remove. I can't tell you how many tubes of this stuff I have gone through. If you told me I could only have one beauty product for the rest of my life, I'm tempted to say this one might be it.

4] Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Blush Beige : Can you see a theme going on here? Clearly I love me some Maybelline makeup. Along with their nude eyeshadow palette they recently released a nude lipstick line as well. Ashlyn and I checked them out a few weeks ago and tested just about every swatch. I landed on this one but I am tempted to go back and snag a few others. I mean...you can never have too many nude lipsticks...am I right? The formula is creamy and sheer. Perfect for layering.

What makeup product can you not live without? Is it a high-end or a drugstore buy? I'd love to hear your favorites in the comments below!

Happy Weekend

Happy Friday readers! I am so thankful to finally see the weekend coming up. This week was packed full and flew by, but boy am I happy to have some time to relax. I'm super excited to catch up on some blog stuff, organize the house a bit, and last but not least celebrate the birthday of one of my nearest and dearest, Ashlyn! We are planning a fun day of mimosa drinking and pool hang outs, and I cannot wait.

I also am dying to head over to the farmer's market this weekend (hence today's photo). I haven't been to any of the markets around here in weeks and I'm due for spending an early morning browsing through the stands for fun, local finds.

What do you have planned this weekend?

14 August 2014

Iced Coffee

This is a quick little post. Not really a recipe, more of an idea to share. In the mornings (when it's warm out) I love to make iced coffee to have at home or take into the office with me. These mason jars are perfect for travel coffee, plus they are cute. I tend to brew the coffee the night before and stick it in the fridge to cool down overnight. In the morning I fill a cup with ice cubes, add in almond milk, some sugar, and a scoop of dark chocolate sauce. Then I pour the coffee over top of that mixture and my walk to work tends to shake it all up nicely. By the time I'm in the office it is well mixed and ready to drink. The end result is an iced mocha of sorts.

Do any of you make fun treats like this in the mornings before work? If so, share below what you love to do to start your day!

OOTD : Black & White Striped Dress

Forever 21 Dress [purchased in store, not shown online]
Zara, Heels
Kate Spade NY Travel Wallet [SIMILAR]
Belt, Ann Taylor [SIMILAR]
Lip Color : NARS Red Square

So "worst blogger of the week" award goes to me! With my mom in town last weekend and then attending a concert on Monday night (those of you who follow me on Instagram will know I've been fangirl-ing for about the past 48 hours) blogging has been tricky. I had planned to put this post up on Monday but sometimes things just don't always go as planned!

Anyways, this outfit combo has been a total favorite of mine for work this summer. This dress is so comfy and since I love nothing more than black and white stripes I find myself continuously reaching for this one. On the weekends I throw on sandals or flats; but for work I love to dress it up with heels. This Zara pair is an all time favorite.

The best part? The dress is a Forever 21 find. One of those inexpensive finds that no one believes came from Forever 21.

Happy Weekend | Flower Friday

Happy Friday everyone! I'm especially excited for this weekend because my Mom is coming up on the train to visit for a weekend. It has become a little tradition that she comes up for a weekend each summer and we always have so much fun. Last year when she came up it was like 107 degrees out so I'm excited that this year we will have much more reasonable walking weather.

What are your plans for this weekend? Are you heading anywhere fun or staying home to relax?

OOTD : ...and I can't have nobody talkin' s***t about my boyfriend

Zara Sandals [SIMILAR]
Marc by Marc Jacobs Clutch [SIMILAR]

So the title of this post...it actually comes from a Sex and the City quote. (Shocker, Faith is referencing Sex and the City again!) My mother actually inspired it and and she's probably laughing at the fact that I'm using a Sex and the City quote for the post. Firstly, she told me that my jeans are just about to become jorts (well she didn't really use the term jorts) but in her own way told me that basically they needed to be retired due to the massive tears in them. I refuse to believe they are seeing their last days. Therefore the quote... nobody gets to talk shit s***t about my boyfriend [jeans]. Secondly, the other night when I informed her I was watching an episode of Sex and the City, she asked me if I had it memorized yet. Why, yes mother, in fact I do.

I digress. Truly the star of this show are these amazing Zara heels which transform any outfit. Instantly my ripped up old denim and baggy white tee are "blogger chic" thanks to these beauties.

Do you have an article of clothing you just can't bear to part with? I've had these jeans for just about four years now and won't be tossing them out any time soon. (Even if I may have ripped the holes even bigger while wearing them last Saturday.)

In case you were wondering the full quote is this: "If Louis was right, and you only get one great love, New York may just be mine. And I can't have nobody talking shit about my boyfriend." - Carrie Bradshaw, Anchors Away (5.1)

Beach Bag Essentials

For the longest time I didn't truly have a proper beach or pool bag; but when this Barrington Gifts tote arrived on my doorstep I knew that it was going to be a summer staple for me. I have been using it the past few weeks at the beach/pool and even love to use it as my work bag. Below are some of my favorite items to bring along with me for a day in the sun!

Harper's Bazaar

What necessities do you keep in your pool/beach bag? I'd love to hear in the comments below!

July Beauty Favorites

While I had many favorites this month; (ahem, my Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua being a good example-which I decided I should not review for you again-you can catch posts about it HERE and HERE) I decided to keep the July favorites post nice and simple, and very summery.

1] Estée Lauder, Bronze Goddess: Earlier in the month I finally hit pan on my Laguna bronzer and was totally set on repurchasing another one until I stumbled upon the Bronze Goddess by Estée Lauder. I actually snagged this one at a cosmetics outlet in Virginia and couldn't resist the amazing price point and the opportunity to try something new! The color I got is darker than Laguna so it is great for summer when I'm a little tanner. I also love the size and shape of the product as well. The mirror is perfect and so handy when applying makeup on the go. The product itself still has a slight shimmer in it (like Laguna) so I haven't strayed too far from the formula I usually use. If anyone has a great matte bronzer they love, please suggest it below!

2] NARS 413 BLKR Illuminator: This purchase was one that I was so, so excited about. When I was in New York last month I finally made the trip to the Bleeker Street NARS flagship store. If any of you have the opportunity to pop in there I highly recommend it. The staff is incredible and the amount of product you can get there that isn't sold in department stores or Sephora is amazing. I went in knowing that I wanted to snag some of the 413 BLKR line products and was so happy to find them all in stock. I got a gorgeous lip color and this amazing illuminator. I hadn't been too thrilled with the regular color selections NARS offers at Sephora so when I saw the 413 BLKR version I was so excited to test it out. The color has a little warmth (unlike some of the other options which are pinker or cooler) and a lot of glow. I love to mix this in with my foundation in the mornings to perk up my face a bit. On super tired days I also dab this on my cheek bones, brow bone, and cupids bow.

3] MAC Lip Liner in Whirl: So like pretty much everyone else in the beauty world, I too searched for the coveted "Kylie Jenner lip color". I left MAC with this lip liner and couldn't be happier. Unlike her older sister Kim, Kylie's nude lip is darker with mauve tones to it. I think this is a great summer lip that can transition seamlessly into fall.

4] NARS Blush in Liberté: Like I mentioned in my first review of this product (seen HERE) this was me totally branching out in the world of blush. I stick to bright pinks and that's pretty much it for my blush colors. For tanned summer skin, I decided it was time to branch out. This coral blush works perfectly with a tan and blends easily with bronzer to create a nice glow.

What products have you loved during July?

Happy Weekend | Evening Pamper Essentials

Happy weekend everyone! This Friday is slightly different than the usual Flower Friday but I figured it was the perfect time to talk about my favorite way to relax and unwind after a long week. There is nothing I love more than having a good old "pamper session" to help de-stress after a particularly long week.

I start by removing all of my makeup using the No7 Hot Cloth Cleanser and really giving my face a good wash. Next I apply my new favorite which is the Origins Active Charcoal Mask. While the mask is drying I run a bath and always add bubbles of some sort. A few years ago my friend gave me this Scottish Fine Soaps one to try, and I loved it so this one is always a staple in my bathroom.

I love turning off my phone while having a night like this and instead of surfing Instagram, I'll grab a good book or a couple of magazines. I'm totally one of those people who can stay in the bath for ages with a good book! (A glass of wine doesn't hurt either!) Once out of the bath a load up on the moisturizer (can you tell how much I love my Clinique one, it's almost gone!) and finish off my face with a good moisturizing lip balm. This one from Pixi is a current favorite, the formula is amazing.

My last step is always nails. Nothing beats a good manicure. I find that painting my nails is such a relaxing and calming thing to do. A great neutral is definitely Essie Polish's "Ballet Slippers."

When I am at home one of my favorite things to do is light candles (especially on relaxing and pampering nights like this). For summertime, candles such as Tommy Bahama's Seaswell candle & their signature Island Blend Candle are great beachy, fresh scents.

Along with the fact that it is Friday and that's enough reason to celebrate relaxing; I also wanted to share with you all a little more about "National Relaxation Day" (which is August 15th) and the Tommy Bahama "Summer of Go" Sweepstakes. The sweepstakes includes some amazing weekly giveaways (I'm talkin' flights, hotel rooms, gift cards, and more!) and a grand prize giveaway (a Hawaiian vacation for four - need I say more?) Head over to the sweepstakes homepage for all of the details and information on how to enter.

ps: As an awesome extra, Uber is giving every new rider who enters the sweepstakes $25 off their first Uber ride. Simply enter HERE to get your code!

*Thank you kindly to Tommy Bahama for sponsoring this post, and reminding me to take a little time out to relax.
