Why Hello There 2014

Happy 2014 readers! I hope all of you are as refreshed and excited about this new year as I am. The little time off I took from blogging helped me to feel re-energized and so excited about what I have planned. Like most years I have jotted down a few resolutions. Unlike past years I really plan to stick to them; but in a different manner. I read in a magazine that it takes 6 weeks to form a habit. So instead of bolding saying "I'm going to change my whole lifestyle, etc" I'm going to take babysteps in the next few weeks to form new habits. I have a few goals but my main goal is the following :

To take better care of my body. I want to eat better (hint, hint to the cook book in the photos above), get well needed rest, and to get back into work out classes. Before the new year I checked out B.Fit Barre Studio and fell in love. It was the first time a class truly kicked my butt. I have already been back in the new year and plan to try to attend one to two classes a week. The other portion of eating better, I plan to tackle with the help of Gwyneth Paltrow's cookbook It's All Good. The book is beautifully photographed and features a huge selection of clean recipes, snacks, juices, and even desserts. Changing a diet is a huge undertaking so my goal is to try to have about three meals from the book a week. [And feature one of those meals/recipes on the blog. A little blog challenge for myself I suppose!]

I have a few small tasks I want to accomplish as well; such as simplify my closets and drawers, to make more time for seeing friends and making new ones, and to find a good budgeting system that works well for me. I know this post is long winded but there is so much to talk about when planning out a new year! Do any of you have resolutions? What are you all looking forward to in 2014?

ps : PEONIES!! I stumbled upon them at Whole Foods this past weekend and could not help buying them. I know they are probably hot-house grown but I don't care they were such a wonderful sign of something fresh and new.

  1. Happy new year! I totally agree—baby steps are the way to go. I'm not really a resolution setter, but I do like having goals for myself and words to live by. Your small tasks are great too; simplifying my closet is def something that needs to get done soon! Best wishes in 2014!

    1. I usually never do the "resolution" route either. But I'm really determined to treat my body better. (Working full time at a computer really shows how hard we can be on our bodies and how imporant excersizing and eating well is!)

I liked the idea of setting small goals for myself as well, things that I can accomplish fairly easily but create an impact!

Best wishes to you too dear Brooke! Happy 2014!

  2. I usually never make resolutions but this year I decided to. I want to make an effort to exercise more. I have set a goal for myself to try at least 3 days a week and maybe go up from there if I can find the time.
    Your resolutions are great!

    1. Thank you!
And I agree and love your resolution. Starting small and building is the perfect way to go. I read in Elle that 6 weeks is what it takes to form a habit so my goal is set for 6 weeks instead of a full year.

      Happy 2014!

  3. Beautiful photos and beautiful peonies! Definitely need to make a trip out to Whole Foods stat! I have similar goals and mainly to eat healthier. I caught a cold this past week and it was a reminder how important sleeping, eating healthy, and working out are for overall wellness! Good luck on your goals this year!
