Sephora Haul

So as I mentioned in this post over Christmas I ran out of all of my makeup...at once... That is officially the worst thing ever. Makeup can be so expensive. I don't believe in all makeup needing to be expensive by any means at all; but I also feel that the makeup I use on my skin/face is the most important to splurge on. So I headed to the Sephora in Richmond. I was surprised to find an employee there I recognized. Her name is Hannah (she is so cool and has amazing lavender hair) and she helped me once last year and I absolutely love the Laura Mercier product she picked out for me. [So much so I've purchased it three times now.] An even greater surprise was that she remembered me; from a year ago! So we got to work revamping my makeup bag because I was feeling that some of the product I was using just wasn't working as well anymore. We had so much fun and I am truly loving the products I purchased, so I thought I might share some of my favorite items with you.

[1] Make-Up Forever HD liquid foundation : This stuff is phenomenal. I hate feeling as though my foundation is caked and painted on me so I usually opt for very light/sheer coverage. That isn't always the best when I have a day I need a little more help. This foundation is the perfect in between. It gives amazing coverage yet feels light and non-existent. A total win.

[2] Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée : I had been wanting to try a Josie Maran product for a while now.  So when I talked to Hannah about how I was interested in trying a non-powder blush I was excited to see her bring me one of Josie's products. I was totally intimidated by this stuff at first. I was scared of going overboard and looking like a clown. The trick I learned is to use the same brush I use for my foundation to apply the gelée. This helps to dull down the brightness and give the perfect flush.

[3] Sephora Pro Flawless Airbrush #56 : Hannah recommended this brush [mentioned above] to make application of both foundation and blush smoother. The key is to apply in a circular motion so that everything blends in nicely. I also love the fact that the brush uses so much less makeup than when I was using my hands. [Side note : I also bought the anti-bacterial brush shampoo from Sephora to keep my brushes extra clean & prevent breakouts.]

[4] Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm : This lip balm actually isn't new to me but I really wanted to let you guys know about it. It actually comes from a men's line of skin care products and it is awesome! I always buy the lavender & vanilla one but there are quite a few other "flavors" to choose from. The formula is thick and I don't need to apply it constantly throughout the day unlike so many other chapsticks and balms.

Have any of you bought any awesome new makeup products recently? I'd love to hear! I am such a makeup junkie. Which I'm sure you all have caught onto by now.

  1. I hate when that happens. I recently ran out of all my hair products and obviously a trip to the store meant a lot of $$$ spent all at once. But I kind of need it so I can keep my crazy hair under control. Anyhow, I love Laura Mercier and their lip glosses. Honestly the best ones around. I got a nude color (bare blush) and it's awesome.

  3. Its a nail product, but my can't-live-without is Seche Vite top coat. It has changed my nailing game. Not only does it dry my polish super fast (as the name implies), but it gives your nails a salon-like sheen. Good stuff.

    1. I swear by Seche Vite!! It has totally transformed my manicures. No more of what I call the dreaded "sheet print" after doing my nails at night!

  5. My all-time favorite lipstick is "Show Orchid" by MAC. It's the ultimate bright fuchsia lip. And I've also been loving Nyx lipgloss in Beige :)
