Gwyneth Paltrow Recipe 1 : Cucumber + Basil + Lime Juice


For my first "Gwyneth challenge" I thought it was only appropriate I share a juice recipe from the detox master herself. I also wanted to try something simple to ease my way into the book and not overwhelm myself with tons of new ingredients. 

The Cucumber + Basil + Lime juice is basically what Gwyneth describes as a non-alcoholic mojito - and she isn't lying! I've tried my fair share of juices from Whole Foods and while I have enjoyed many I can't say that they left me craving more. Gwyneth's leaves me craving more. It also makes a huge impact on my day. I truly feel better post drinking this and it keeps me full. The ingredients are simple and it's so easy to make. You can actually make it in your regular old blender as long as you strain the juice before drinking. 

Here's what you'll need :

[1] 1/2 cup of fresh basil
[2] 1 English cucumber
[3] 1/2 lime 
[4] 1 apple
[5] 1/2 cup of water
[6] ice cubes

To make in a blender :

[1] Remove cucumber skin & dice
[2] Dice apple
[3] Add basil, cucumber, apple, freshly squeezed lime juice, water, & ice cubes in blender
[5] Pulse on high until everything is pureed 
[6] Strain liquid through a fine mesh strainer
[7] Drink right away 

ps : I usually half this recipe as it is a lot in one serving. I also eat one of her breakfast muffins with the juice as well. [I will be sharing that recipe next week!]
