Peppermint Hot Chocolate

I made this recipe the other weekend but I figured I should at least wait until after Halloween to post it ;) Now that the weather is getting chillier I am definitely in hot chocolate/coffee/hot cider mode. My absolute favorite is Starbuck's Peppermint Mocha (which they released this week!) so I figured it might be fun to take a twist on that and whip up a peppermint hot chocolate. I used this recipe to make both the homemade whipped cream & hot chocolate. The hot chocolate is nice and decedant in comparision to the packaged kind. It tastes great with the peppermint or without [I didn't add the peppermint to the whole batch, I simply added a few drops to my individual cup so I could enjoy regular and peppermint hot chocolate]! Plus making the homemade whipped cream was so fun.

Even though this is a little holiday themed I figured I would save the crushed candy canes for a recipe I have for a little closer to Christmas.

ps: Since this makes four servings I kept the rest in my fridge to heat up and decided to throw a cup into my blender with ice cubes one night...and got instant frozen hot chocolate.

  1. Omg!! The Peppermint Mocha from Starbucks is my absolute favorite! My mom is not a coffee person, so she always orders a Peppermint Hot Chocolate instead—I will be sending this recipe to her! I've never made homemade whipped cream; I'm looking forward to trying it :)
