Apple Pie Adventure

Last weekend [along with brunching and birthday celebrating], we also made a trip out to the apple farm. Now let me also start this recipe post with the disclaimer that I am not a baker...I'm much more a cook. I enjoy being able to play with the recipe and not measure things exactly to create a fun combination. Baking is exact; which I am attempting to get better at. I was excited to try this super simple apple pie recipe this week. My final product didn't come out nearly as pretty as a Martha Stewart [there was a little mishap with the crust thawing too much next to the oven...oops!], but it still tastes wonderful topped with vanilla ice cream nonetheless.

I'm excited to start baking some more for sure; do any of you have some great recipes you'd love to share?

  1. Mmm... I have a craving for apple pie now! Perfect Autumn food. I always like to keep recipes simple too :) I pin most of the amazing looking recipes I come across... though if I said i'd actually made more than 10% of them i'd be lying. They just look so good!

  2. Yum! I have never baked a pie, even though I bake.. a lot! I'm more of a cupcake/cookie person, but need to try my hand at making an apple pie this fall! I'll pick some good ones when I go apple picking in the next couple of weeks :)

  3. Oh, I love apple picking! I agree with you, I'm not much of a baker since it's so exact and I love cooking more, BUT I would love to do more baking this Fall since it has all my favorite seasonal treats :) For not being much of a baker, this pie looks fantastic! I'm sure it came out great! I'm so glad I found you over Instagram - I'm definitely a new follower of your beautiful blog! xo

  4. I know exactly what you are talking about, I prefer cooking so much because you don't have to be as exact! I'm trying to be a better baker though because I love sweets (more than is good for me!)

  5. Ooo yum! I sure do miss the orchards I grew up nearby in upstate New York. Here in Texas we're lacking in them. But now you got me thinking of making a pie. That would surely be lovely.
