Trick or Treat!

Happy Halloween readers!

Like I stated in HERE in my last dessert post, I am not much of a baker but I am certainly trying/learning! I followed this recipe from the blog Sally's Baking Addiction (which I found through a google search) a made a batch of Peanut Butter M&M cookies! Overall these came out tasting delicious but I did have a little mishap while baking. Her recipe calls for 1 and 1/4 cup of flour (which I thought sounded like A LOT - I reread that line multiple times) and upon adding it totally messed up the consistency of my dough. I panicked, but deciding that the dough still tasted good I proceeded with the recipe. It was hard though to form the little balls to place on the baking sheet; and I believe the crackling effect comes from the large amount of flour as well.

In the end my friends and I consumed them well before dinner and they were much more interesting to photograph than flat little cookies! I definitely will be sticking with my gut though and not adding so much flour next time.

The photo below is a fun little Halloween treat I put together for my girlfriends. I found these little boxes months ago at the craft store; and for a dollar I knew I'd find some use for them!

ps : head on over to my Instagram account for a shot of my Halloween costume pulled together! You can find my page using the social media buttons on the side of my site :)

Currently Loving // Halloween Edition

Happy Halloween-Eve readers! I'm really excited for Halloween tomorrow and have been prepping my costume [I'm hoping to get a good picture all done-up to share with you guys in the next few days!]

From left to right :
(1) Pulled out some of my Audrey things over the weekend to brush up for my costume ;) I've been a huge Audrey fan since I was little [I was the 11 year old checking out Breakfast at Tiffany's from Blockbuster] and I have most of her films and lots of books on her!
(2 & 3) A few items from my costume!
(4) "It's just a bunch of Hocus Pocus!" My Halloween tradition is to watch my favorite witches.
(5) Not Halloween related but I sure do love these little Gap flats!

Halloween Coffee Table

Today's post is a quick little one! Continuing with my Halloween theme for the week I thought it would be fun to share how I decorated my coffee table for the holiday. While my actual pumpkins are nice and "glitzed out" I kept my coffee table's theme a little more traditional with of course some girlie twists.

What type of Halloween decorations do you have up?

Pumpkin DIY

Last weekend during our "glamping" trip we decided it would be the perfect time to make Halloween pumpkins! Some carved, but most of us shook things up a bit and DIY'd them Pinterest style. Spray paint was our primary decorating tool but we also got a lot of use out of fine glitter. I decided to keep mine really simple and spray the body and glitter the stems. I'm really pleased with how they came out & I'm sad that eventually they will need to be thrown out!

Have any of you done non-traditional pumpkin decorating?

Happy Friday // A Little Change

Top 1 // Top 2 // D'Orsay Flats // MAC lipstick in Ablaze

Happy Friday readers, so glad the weekend is here! This week marks an exciting change (as I promised I would share on Wednesday.) A few weeks ago I decided that I really missed working part time for the Ann Taylor company. I worked for them for over five years and last spring I decided that I needed to take some time off. I truly have missed the aspect of working in a fun environment, meeting new people, and doing something other than my nine to five job (my blog is product of that last one as well!) This week was my first official week back and I am truly loving it.

On the downside, my schedule will be much busier. With numerous weekend trips that always seem to stack up during the fall and holidays; plus the extra hours at Ann Taylor I am going to be going at full speed! That being said, I still plan (*hope) to be able to stick to my promise of blogging daily. I made a commitment to myself that I would post something Monday through Friday and I often struggle/stress with idea of not being able to stick to my goal. I am learning though that life happens and schedules become crazy and that this is supposed to be the non-stressor in my life. I made it to have a creative outlet that didn't put pressure on me! So bare with me here readers; I will do my absolute best to bring something fun each day. But I'm becoming okay with the idea that not every week I'll be able to post an elaborate recipe or share everything I'd like to. [Especially with this fleeting sunlight! Lighting is everything to my photos and the earlier it gets darker, the hard it is to capture everything. So get ready for a few more iPhone shots, that thing is SO handy!]

Hope you all have fabulous weekends :)

ps : The "leather" that Ann Taylor is using in these pieces is actually a Vegan product, definitely a very good thing to get behind!

Homemade Mac & Cheese

As the weather gets colder I start craving "comfort food" more and more. Mac & Cheese has always been one of my go-to comfort food/indulging meals. I can make a pretty mean bowl of Easy Mac, but I thought I would change things up and try a homemade version. I used this recipe and was in heaven the second all that cheese began melting down on my stove! Its hearty enough to be its own meal but it's also great as a side.

What recipes have you tried lately? I'd love to hear some good fall ones!

Currently Loving

Happy Hump Day readers! Lots of projects and events have made this week fly by! The weather has also been so spectacular this week as well. Today also marks an exciting change for me; I'll be sharing more on the blog Friday ;)

From left to right :
(1) It's tight weather! I've been loving this polka dot pair I pulled out from hiding. [Similar : HERE]
(2) My dear friend brought me back this cozy fur scarf from her adventures through Europe! [Similar : HERE & HERE]
(3) The prettiest fall leaf (a rare find in the city!)
(4) The cutest little tray of miniature fall themed cheesecakes I put together for a work event from Whole Foods
(5) I've been attempting to get into pressed juices lately...it's been an interesting experience. I really love that Whole Foods makes them fresh there. I really liked Emerald River which had cucumber, apple, lemon, and more but the orange bottle had way to much ginger. It was super overpowering, but when someone is making them fresh its hit or miss!

What have you been loving lately?

Bling Bling

A few weeks ago Ann Taylor did a forty percent off of the entire store. These are sales I live for! It allows me to purchase the brand new product without paying full price. I went immediately for these two items because of their bejeweled collars [what can I say...when I find something I like I can become a rather predictable shopper]. I especially love the first sweater's Peter Pan collar. The collar plus the color is just so sweet and feminine.

Have any of you scored any great finds at good prices lately?

ps : The navy top is now on sale :)

A Weekend in the Woods

Picture provided by Nicole DeCamp, taken by Jake Thorwart
{ There are four of us in that photo, I promise! }

This past weekend was such a bitter-sweet one. More sweet than bitter though thankfully. I was re-united with some of my very best girls from design school to celebrate a fall full exciting changes. I've posted about this quote before; but it truly does ring so true every fall : "Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall." [F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby]

I am so proud of all of my girlfriends from school - Stacy, Nicole, Kait, & Kim (who we missed dearly this past weekend) - they have all accomplished so much within the past year and a half from graduation and they are all making big changes this fall. From big promotions and new jobs (all of which are in our field of study!), to new houses in new cities, and new steps in relationships they are all accomplishing so much. Its the best feeling to be able to see your friends achieving the things they want in life. Especially when it's all happening for everyone :)

Love you girls, can't wait for many more Parvin celebrations in years to come. xx

Happy Weekend

Happy Friday readers! I'm so excited to spend this weekend in true fall fashion, with great friends up in the mountains. In the city it can sometimes be so hard to see the signs of fall...crisp colorful leaves falling, pretty sunsets, and nature in general. After going to school in the gorgeous Shenandoah Valley it is something I certainly miss. To make up for my lack of fall colored trees in my surroundings, I picked up these pretty orangey red flowers during the week.

Hope all of you have something fun planned for the weekend!

Spiked Apple Cider

I'm really excited to share this recipe with you! I spent a lot of time looking up fall flavored cocktails and after not finding exactly what I was looking for I decided to create my own. It is seriously one of the best cocktail recipes I've tried. It uses quite a few ingredients but it is totally worth it!

Here's what you'll need :

(1) 2 parts dark rum
(2) 2 and a half parts apple cider
(3) Half a lemon squeezed
(4) Half an apple diced
(5) Splash of ginger ale
(6) Cinnamon sticks

To make :

(1) Combine rum, apple cider, and lemon in shaker with ice & shake vigorously
(2) Pour over diced apples
(3) Top with ginger ale and cinnamon stick

Ps : If you have a Whole Foods near you, it's the greatest for grabbing special items like cinnamon sticks (and other spices). You can buy as small an amount as you need, and it's so cheap that way!

Currently Loving // Weekend Re-Cap

Last week was one of those weeks. The type that just drain you of about all the energy you've got. I've also been on the move, traveling lately (and have lots of weekend trips coming up!) So this past weekend at home with a little bit of rainy weather was more than welcome. It felt completely okay to curl up inside, sleep in, and indulge a little.

Left to Right :
(1) Freshly baked Apple Streusel bread from Spring Mill Bread Company
(2) True Italian hot chocolate from Pitango
(3) At home manicure : Butter London's Union Jack Black with some Martha Stewart Rose Gold Glitter
(4) Hot tea on chilly mornings
(5) A lazy Saturday morning in bed with a book, something I don't do enough of

Did any of you do anything a little relaxing or indulgent this past weekend?
