Happy Weekend

pool necessities
Happy start to the weekend everyone!
This week has gone by surprisingly fast but I sure am glad today is Friday. Tomorrow I'm off to lounge by the pool and eat lots of Chinese takeout with my little brother. Hope everyone has something fun and relaxing planned for the weekend!

Zara sandals (the white is longer available but blue is-and I might just have to scoop those up as well!)

Sweet Treat

Pitango Chocolate Noir & Stracciatella
I first discovered Pitango through Taza's blog and I've been hooked ever since. (It totally doesn't help that I live within walking distance to one, but hey, I'm walking there and back so it sorta evens itself out right?!) Pitango is just about the closest you'll get to the real Italian deal. There are three locations in DC; one in the Eastern Market area, one on 14th and P Street, and one on 7th in Penn Quarter. Along with the three DC locations they also have a Virginia and a Maryland location. My go to flavors are chocolate noir and stracciatella (pictured above). If you live in the DC area and you haven't been to a Pitango; you're most certainly missing out!

Be sure to check out their "about us" section and read all about the shop.

Do any of you know of any other hidden gems in the city like Pitango? I'm a sucker for any type of sweets or local coffee shops and I'd love to hear suggestions!

Currently Loving

Pink Peonies & the July Vogue
I'm always searching for new inspiration in what's around me. Especially in terms of fashion and what to wear each day. I thought it would be nice to create a weekly posting to share what I'm currently loving and being inspired by. Whether its in print, what I'm wearing, recipes I've found, new interior inspiration, or a great new beauty product. Happy Wednesday!

This Zara dress which I've styled both for weekend casual and for work. (Currently included in their huge summer sale!)
These Zara wedges (also included in the sale) which go with pants and skirts/dresses so well.
The neutral straps ensures that your legs don't become cut off.
This dainty scallop ring from Kate Spade that I just couldn't resist.

Summer Line-Up

(1) M.A.C Red (2) M.A.C Ablaze (3) NARS Schiap (4) NARS Roman Holiday (5) M.A.C Creme Cup

Ever since I was little I've had a love affair with lipsticks. I used to rummage through my Grandmother's expansive make-up drawer and try on every color I could get my hands on. Not much as changed about my love of make-up but it has been a challenge to find the right colors. Through much trial and error and many trips to the make-up counter I've finally found a good set of colors for both everyday and nighttime. Above are the current colors in my summer rotation.

Using the first photo above from left to right:

(1) M.A.C Red : a classic red lip is great for any season and this M.A.C color is my go-to "true red" (don't forget your lip liner!)
(2) M.A.C Ablaze (no longer available - similar M.A.C Lady at Play) : great daytime color. The punch of a red without the intensity.
(3) NARS Schiap : this is a bold one, bright and fun. It's a great summer nighttime color.
(4) NARS Roman Holiday : an every-day, lighter version of Schiap.
(5) M.A.C Creme Cup : the best nude color I've found yet (and trust me...I've tried tons).

Mimosa Twist

Champagne & Peonies
There's nothing I love more than spending Saturday morning brunching with friends and sipping on mimosas. A while back my best friend Abby bought me all the fixings for a custom mimosa for my birthday. They were delicious and we drank them all weekend! So this past Saturday I decided to take the traditional mimosa recipe and give it a fun twist using her inspiration. I picked up a bottle of Champagne from Trader Joe's (what a steal, Trader Joe's has the best prices!) and got mixing. I used Dole's Orange, Strawberry, Banana juice and mixed the drink with fresh peaches and strawberries.
Have you tried any other fun mimosa combos? I'd love to hear your fabulous recipes!

Summer Solstice

This past Friday officially began summer and with the new season off to a fresh start, I felt it an appropriate time to finally begin a blog. It's been in the back of my mind for months now; and with the new resolution to use my "real" camera on a daily basis and subtle hints from friends that a blog was a must - I really think they were just tired of me filling their news feeds with images ;) - the timing never seemed better.
I sat for a long time mulling over a choice of name for this little spot on the internet. I played with ideas using my name, fashion words, etc and finally settled on "that's just fabulous." It came from a quote that I find incredibly resonating and true:
"Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous." - Carrie Bradshaw (Sex & The City, Season 6 "An American Girl in Paris: Part Deux")

Maybe you'll find inspiration and excitement with the things I post, maybe you won't, and if you do, well, that's just fabulous...
